Auricular Acupuncture
Acupuncture Using the Ear
Auricular acupuncture uses the ear as a microsystem to treat the entire body, as opposed to Korean Hand Acupuncture, which uses the hand. Through precise diagnosis and treatments, a skilled acupuncturist remedies physical and emotional problems utilizing very specific acupuncture points on the ears.
What's Involved
In auricular medicine, we utilize treatment protocols from France and Germany, which are much more advanced than Traditonal forms of Chinese Acupuncture because they utilize an instrument that measures negative and positive polarity on the ear. (This can also be used for the hands in Korean Hand Therapy.) In many cases, the acupuncturist can use ear tacks or what's called "ear seeds," including very small needles to stimulate certain points on the ears. These stimulated points correspond to various areas of the body, such that by treating the ear, the acupuncturist is actually treating the corresponding organ or area of the body. These techniques are used worldwide for treating numerous health issues, including pain, drug abuse, alcohol detox, reflux, hearing & vision problems, and smoking cessation.
Korean Hand Therapy is very similar, in that it treats the hand as a microsystem of the body, though it focuses on the hands rather than the ears.
